DESCRIPTION: The USAMMDA, Medical Modernization, Deployed Medical

Systems PMO has a requirement to identify and procure a commercial Mercury Vapor Analyzer for the Army laboratory equipment sets.

The Mercury Vapor Analyzer must be compatible with Army requirements for capability, interoperability with Army equipment, and calibration. The Mercury Vapor Analyzer is used for detection and measurement of toxic mercury vapor in the air. The Mercury Vapor Analyzer unit which is currently used by the Army is no longer procurable and based on outdated technology. The currently fielded JEROME 431-X (Arizona Instrument Inc.) Mercury Vapor Analyzer unit needs to be replaced by a unit with greater accuracy and sensitivity. Without the proper device the army will not be capable of detecting mercury in environmental samples, allowing for warfighter exposure to toxic mercury vapors while performing their mission.
