This is a Sources Sought Notice only. This is not a request for proposal, but a survey to locate potential sources. This Sources Sought does not constitute an Invitation for Bids, Request for Proposals, or a Request for Quotations, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue an order or otherwise pay for the information solicited, nor is it a guarantee of a forthcoming solicitation or contract. It is for market research purposes only. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation.



The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities, and qualifications of various members of industry, to include the Small Business Community: Small Business, Section 8(a), Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUB-Zone), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), and Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB). The Government must ensure there is adequate competition among the potential pool of responsible contractors. Small business, Section 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, & EDWOSB businesses are highly encouraged to participate.

A. Objective:





To find sources that are qualified to meet the supplies/services as listed in section 11B. Note that the specific requirements in section C are subject to change prior to the release of any solicitation.





B. Salient Characteristics





The Government requires one (1) polymer processing equipment with the following minimum specifications:






  • A mobile system for the drying of polymer pellets prior to processing.








    • The system shall be comprised of a cart mounted hopper dryer with a rotary desiccant which can operate in a continuous or batch-wise fashion.

    • It shall offer a drying capacity of roughly 15-20 pounds (lb.)/ hour (hr.) with a 2 cubic ft hopper volume.

    • It shall come equipped with a hopper loader, allowing it to load itself on-demand from a bag or drum of polymer pellets

    • The equipment shall run on 460V 3-phase electrical supply.

    • It shall include a drying monitor capable of monitoring and controlling dewpoint.

    • The heat exchanger shall be air-to-air.








  • A mobile system for the drying of polymer pellets prior to processing.








    • The system shall contain the same criteria as the above, except it shall offer a drying capacity of roughly 25-30lb/hr. with a 3 cubic ft hopper.








  • An oil heating and circulation system, capable of maintaining oil temperature from 70-500Fahrenheit (21.1-260Celcius) and delivering >10Liters/minute flow rate.








    • The unit shall have an air-cooled seal cavity requiring no cooling water for operation.

    • It shall have a digital interface for controlling setpoint.

    • It shall run on 460V 3-phase electrical supply.








  • A screenless mobile granulator for the grinding of injection molding byproducts (sprues, runners, etc.) or reject parts.








    • It shall be capable of throughputs in the range of 20lb/hour with an opening of 10” width by 10” height plus or minus 2”.

    • It shall have a motor delivering 3 plus or minus 0.5 horsepower with a cutter size of 5” to 6”.

    • It shall have a multi-tooth rotor comprised of D2 teeth and cutting wheel.

    • It shall be able to interface with a take-off, by either vacuum or compressed air, to unload directly to a bag or drum.







C. Responses:

  1. Past experience/ performance through the description of completed projects.
