This Sources Sought Notice is being issued for informational purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the USDA, ARS.
ARS is conducting a Market Survey to identify the availability and interest of firms as potential sources for online library research services for the National Agricultural Library, located in Beltsville, Maryland
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this project is 511120 (Periodical Publishers) with a Size Standard of 1000 employees.
Background:
The National Agricultural Library is mandated (7 U.S.C. 3101) to serve as the primary agricultural information resource of the United States. As a consequence of these activities, NAL is recognized as a major research library in the United States. This research library is applicable to about 125 of the over 120,000 libraries in the United States.
In support of its operations, NAL monitors issues that affect research libraries, changes in information policy, and effective training for research librarians.
Project Scope:
The Contracting Activity intends to procure an annual membership fee that covers the cost of all publications, reports, training services, and membership meetings.
The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) is an international consortium of more than 240 college, university, and independent research libraries that makes available through interlibrary loan and digital delivery approximately five million publications, archives, and collections and one million digital resources to its member libraries to supplement their humanities, science, and social science holdings. Founded in 1949, CRL supports original research and inspired teaching in the humanities, sciences, and social sciences by preserving and making available to scholars a wealth of rare and uncommon primary source materials from all world regions.
The Period of Performance is for one base year and four, one year option periods.
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. Interested firms are invited to respond to this announcement by providing the following information:
1. Firm’s name, address, point of contact, phone number, and e-mail address.
2. Firm’s level of interest in competing on the solicitation when it is issued.
3. Firm’s Business Size.
NO SOLICITATION EXISTS. THIS REQUEST IS INTENDED ONLY TO IDENTIFY POTENTIAL SOURCES. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this sources sought announcement. The deadline to respond to this notice is February 10, 2024. Requested information shall be limited to no more than 2 pages. Interested firms are instructed to submit written responses by e-mail to angela.wingert@usda.gov. NO HARD COPY OR FACSIMILE SUBMISSION WILL BE ACCEPTED. Cover letters and extraneous materials (brochures, etc.) will not be considered. No reimbursement will be made for any cost associated with providing information in response to this announcement or any follow-up information provided. All interested sources must respond to future solicitation announcements separately from responses to this market survey.
