Description

  1. Background



This Statement of Work (SOW) establishes and defines the requirements for the engineering, furnishing, installation, testing and documentation of inside and outside plant fiber optic and copper cabling at Cheltenham, MD.




  1. Scope of Work



The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and all other components necessary to install, test and document inside and outside plant fiber optic and copper cabling at Cheltenham, MD. All work performed in the design and installation shall conform to BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) specifications to ensure consistency with current codes, standards, and regulations. The following BICSI publications apply. Outside Plant Design Reference Manual, 4th Edition and Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual, 12th edition.




  1. General.


    1. Cable Testing. All copper cables will be tested in accordance with BICSI specifications to ensure no damage has occurred to the cable during installation. All copper cables shall be tested for cable faults prior to and after installation has been completed. If the cable is damaged during installation, the contractor shall replace the cable with one that is undamaged. All cable terminals and information boxes interface units shall be labeled with machine-generated labels. All cables shall be labeled at all termination points, building entrance terminals, patch panels, manholes, hand holes, and at all splice entrance/exit points.

    2. Site Restoration. All non-paved surfaces (grass, sod, gravel, etc.) must be restored within 7 days. Trenches and splice pits must be mechanically compacted to compensate for future earth settlement. All roads, streets, sidewalks of concrete or asphalt construction must be restored or repaved within 3 days from the time of backfilling and compaction.

    3. Grounding. Contractor shall ensure all equipment are secured and grounded to industry standards.



  2. Description of Task

    1. Task 1: Material to Install Copper and Fiber Optic cable at the ARMAG Building at Cheltenham, MD.

      1. List of materials to be provided by the contractor.

      2. Approximately 650’ Shielded Twisted Pair Copper Cable (STP)

      3. Approximately 350’ 6 Strand Single Mode Fiber Optic Cable

      4. Two (2) Wal Mount 12 Port Fiber Optic Patch Panel

      5. Twelve (12) SC Type Fiber Connectors

      6. Four (4) Lightning Arresters

      7. One 17”x30”x18” Communications Handhole

      8. Approximately 300 Ft of 2” schedule 40 PVC conduit



    2. Task 2: Install Copper and Fiber Optic cable at the ARMAG Building at Cheltenham, MD.

      1. Contractor shall provide and install a 17”x30”x18” handhole 2” schedule 40 PVC conduit from the existing handhole near bldg. 53 into the new hand hole installed behind the ARMAG bldg. (See Aerial Photo in Attachment 1 below)

      2. Contractor shall provide and install a 2” schedule 40 PVC conduit from the existing handhole near bldg. 53 into the new hand hole installed behind the ARMAG bldg.

      3. Contractor shall provide and install two (2) outside plant grade CAT 6 cable through the newly installed handhole and conduit into the ARMAG building.

      4. Contractor shall terminate both ends of the STP cable onto a lightning arrester terminal.

      5. Contractor shall provide and install a twelve (12) strand single mode fiber optic cable from bldg. 53 IT closet through the conduits and manholes into the ARMAG bldg.

      6. Contractor shall terminate both ends of the 12-strand fiber cable onto fiber optic patch panel using SC fiber optic connectors.

      7. Contractor shall tag and label the cable and terminal.

      8. Contractor shall test label and tag the terminal, cables, and patch panels.
