The U.S. Army intends to award a Sole Source Contract to United Elevator Company of Richmond, Virginia under FAR Part 6.302-1 -- Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. United Elevator currently performs servicing and maintenance on the elevators at Ft. George Meade under contract W91QV122C0047 as well as minor repairs as needed. Upon recent inspection, it was determined that (2) elevators require extensive overhaul.
The overhaul / repairs of these two elevators requires ongoing preventive maintenance for the foreseeable future which is covered under the existing contract. Contracting with another party for the maintenance of the (2) elevators would be duplicative in terms of costs.
