INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE: The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) intends to negotiate and award using Simplified Acquisition Procedures (Dollar Threshold $250,000), a fixed priced order for the purchase of Rapid Replacement Warranty agreements for our Sigma DS3 printers and laminators used by the Division of Credentialing Operations in the CMS Badging Office to print PIV cards for CMS employees and contractors. The sole source purchase order will be awarded to JO Brien Company, Inc. 40 Commerce Street, Springfield, NJ 07081-3004 under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 235 (C) (1) as implemented by FAR6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies and Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. A justification and approval is currently being processed for this requirement. This requirement is intended as a sole source procurement because JO Brien is the only company that supplies the Sigma DS3 printers including all parts. They are the only contractor that provides warranty to their equipment.

CMS REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of this procurement is to obtain annual maintenance warranty support for the Sigma DS3 printers. These printers and laminators are required for the agency to be HSPD-12 compliant. Failure to use these printers or have warranty on them will result in loss of functionality in existing PIV card processing.

NAICS CODES: The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 334290.
