DVR transportation currently has transport boxes that are not compatible with our equipment.

Therefore, when a transport is required to go outside of the facility, the staff must resort to carrying

them improperly to get them from their origin to their destination resulting in an unsafe weight

distribution on the employee and a potential fall hazard for both the primate and employee.

Justification Rationale for the request:

The purpose of this acquisition is to have primate shipping boxes on hand to properly move the primates

out of the facility. The empty boxes will then be returned to the facility once the animals have arrived at

their destination.

Allentown, Inc. has become a vetted vendor in supplying the Building 49 Central Animal Facility with

machines and equipment. Allentown has shown to be the best choice of vendor to acquire these nonhuman

primate transfer boxes from as the pricing and dimensions are best suited for our needs.
